NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - Former senator and now-former Deputy Prime Minister, Winchester, has stepped down from his position after the Constructive-led senate pushed for his removal and began voting. Activist senators were torn on the vote as most opted to abstain, with a handful voting in favor of the DPM's removal on grounds of inactivity.
After Winchester had noticed that the legislation was one vote away from becoming veto-proof, he made a public announcement in the message board stating his intentions to step down, effective immediately. " I have words for you, that sadden me, but I realize the truth behind them. Clearly I have been inactive. We all know and see it. I do apologize for any turmoil this has caused. I am far behind in news and action. Effectively immediately, I Resign from the Office of Deputy Prime Minister. I thank those that voted for me and my supporters as well as my adversaries. I cannot promise more activity, nor can I ensure that I shall be more engaged. Life catches us all, and it has seemed to become more busy for myself. I hope to remain a part of the NWA and perhaps lead in the future, no one knows that the future will bring." Following this shock announcement, Prime Minister Riost thanked Winchester for his public service and wasted little time in selecting an interim successor. Ultimately he settled with Katarial, a newer resident that joined via NWA-OSK merger. While he is a newer resident, he does have experience in government as he served as Kappa's Delegate in the World Assembly prior to the merger. " I accept the position of DPM and promise to make a difference. I’ll be online regularly and on discord, please contact me with any queries and concerns... I must say that initially after the merger, I might have thought about our decision in detail, however that led me to appreciate the wonderful unity among members of this wonderful region. Our founder, prime minster and other regional officials works to make sure that this region is on the right track, and as DPM I will continue the great work . New Western Atlantic is now my region and I will serve you all to the best of my ability... we are all in this together... and most of all help to bring out the agenda of this great and noble region."

NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - Organized States of Kappa, a medium-sized region of approximately 40-45 nations, has voted by a wide margin to merge in to the New Western Atlantic. The OSK-NWA merger referendum was approved by nearly 85% of their residents, while there was mild opposition from a few of their residents, most conceded that it was in the best interest of Kappians to immigrate to the New Western Atlantic in order to take advantage of the region's endless opportunities as well as the widespread regional activity.
King UDR and Kappa's government both had closed-door discussions about what a merger would entail, and it seems that a High Court seat as well as a Deputy cabinet minister position have been reserved for former Kappa residents. Following the blowout referendum result, New Western Atlantic membership saw a significant increase of 16 new residents, or 5.7% in total membership. This merger between OSK and the NWA is widely expected to have a positive impact on both sides as this has spurred regional activity along with an increase in influence for former Kappa residents. Despite the moderate spike in immigration levels, some Atlantic residents voiced concerns for the merger due to the apparent lack of communication between the Monarchy and the government. Prime Minister Riost (ACT), who is locked in an unusually competitive primary as an incumbent, did not welcome the new residents of the region. Instead, the Prime Minister voiced concern with the merge and called it "anti-democratic" despite previous mergers all having been handled by the Founder himself. In response to the criticism of lack of communication, King UDR addressed government officials by stating that he did inform two cabinet ministers that he believed should be kept in the loop. The two cabinet officials that were informed include Immigration Minister Baconbacon123 and Diplomacy Minister Ehoi, respectively. Constructive party members also voiced opposition to the merger, and a few are reported to believe that this was a partisan move to increase Activist party membership. Despite this rumor that has been swirling, it is likely false as the founder of Kappa himself has stated that he intends to apply for membership in the Constructive party. Also due to Kappa only bringing around 15 new residents in to the New Western Atlantic, some of which are registered puppets, it is highly unlikely that this will have a biased effect on party membership. NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - Former USSD Supreme Commissar, Imperium of Josh, joined the region over a month ago due to a coup in his region. At first, Josh served as an advisor to the government, but he quickly rose to the King's most trusted inner circle. Present day however, Josh has been appointed as Prince-Consort to the King himself, the first to ever hold such a position. While his contributions to the region are widely known; a select few voiced concerns with Josh's ascendance into the monarchy, including a handful of notable names such as Bergonnia (former Liberal Democrat PM candidate), Baconbacon123 (Immigration Minister), and Struberria (Activist senator). On the flip side; several other notable names voiced support for the newly-appointed Prince-Consort, including Trade Federations (Constructive Party Chairman and current leader of the senate), Rheta (Leader of the Liberal Democrats) and Prime Minister Riost. King UDR heard out the concerns of those who disapprove of the new Prince, but he ultimately opted to double down on his support of Josh as Prince-Consort. It is worth noting that the position has no legislative authority and can only moderate the message board, change the regional world factbook entry's appearance, and create polls. |
