NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - With the General Election fast approaching in the New Western Atlantic, nearly every elected position is up for grabs (aside from half of the senate seats). For the first time in recent memory, the center right Constructive party has virtually no control in the executive branch, while the center left Activists see their party membership bolster after their merger with the Imperial party.
While the Activists control nearly all levers of government, they are not a shoe-in to win this upcoming election. In fact, the race for Prime Minister is extremely close as a RBC poll that was released this week showed a close three-way race. Riost (ACT) - 34% Ormantum (CON) - 28% Bergonnia (LBD) - 28% Margin of Error is +/- 5.5 The cabinet is also an important part of the executive branch, and it seems like the Activists will have many seats to defend as a majority of the Ministers are Activists: Skytecnia (Communications), Hevern (Justice), and Norrizi (Diplomacy). The remaining two cabinet posts are held by a Liberal Democrat and a People's party member, respectively. The senate is extremely close according to the polls as the Activists and the Constructivists are deadlocked in a 31% to 31% tie, effectively ensuring a very close race in the down-ballot races. Undoubtedly independents are going to have a large say in who is elected as a senator, and which party they hail from.
