NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - Former Constructivist Deputy Prime Minister under Heisenbee's controversial Premiership is currently on track to losing his bid for a senate seat, badly. With well over three quarters of the vote counted, he is just shy of four percent.
His career began with much enthusiasm and was considered a refreshing face under the Constructive party's dominant reign over New Western Atlantic politics, but it now has dwindled to a name of the past. With a majority of voters wanting to avoid the old way of politics, he seemed to have had an uphill climb from the get-go. While the former Deputy Premier is lagging behind in the vote totals, his fellow party members are actually performing relatively well as two Constructivists are expected to take a seat in the next senate session. Despite losing in the first round of the Prime Minister's race, Constructivist Ormantum is performing well and is expected to win a seat in the senate. Another newcomer to regional politics, Astanmark, is the other Constructivist who is on pace to taking a seat in the upper chamber. On the Activist side both of their senate candidates, Amercas and Trinina, are expected to win comfortably and will prove critical in helping the Activists retain their majority in the chamber. If both are able to win, they will join the already two Activists in the next session. RBC projects the following senate composition for the next three months: ACT - 4 seats CON - 3 seats LIB - 1 seat RNP - 1 seat SEP - 1 seat If our numbers are correct; the senate will have a makeup of five progressives, four conservatives, and one centrist. Which gives the chamber a slight left-of-center tilt, but in reality it will be difficult for either side to pass legislation without bipartisan support, even if the Activists hold a one seat majority over the Constructivists.

NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - In a stunning election upset, Riost has defeated now-former Deputy Prime Minister Bergonnia in a heated election that was expected to go to the Liberal Democrat due to the right wing vote presumed to have thrown the Deputy Premier across the finish line, but final results are showing that the left-leaning populist Riost was able to to win over enough independents and even pick off a few left-leaning Liberal Democrats. The election was declared finished by the Founder, who earlier removed a nation that was voting for Riost in what was an alleged puppet, but still Riost was able to declare victory.
A handful in the Activist party establishment, namely Prime Minister Ostermeer, considered Riost to be a weak candidate due to his previous affiliation under a minuscule third party and considered his left wing populism as toxic to the party's ordinary center left brand. The Activist leadership, along with Riost himself, was able to successfully reach out to those who were skeptical of a change in the party's direction and tapped establishment-friendly Winchester as his running mate. Whether or not that was the reason for his stunning victory has yet to be determined, but once again the New Western Atlantic's political environment has been irreversibly shaken. It is worth mentioning that Bergonnia's strong second place finish is an achievement for the third largest party, the Liberal Democrats. He also leaves office with a positive approval rating and a track record that helped the region hit all-time levels in total residents. The official results provided by the Founder are listed below: Riost (ACT) - 51.6% (33 votes) Bergonnia (LIB) - 48.4% (31 votes) |
