NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC : After a week of close polling between the two mainstream parties, Activist and Constructive, polls are no longer going to be close. That is because the Imperial party in the region, which polls around 10% of the region, has decided to merge with the center-left Activists.
In the recent days, the Activist party has seen numerous things happen in their favor. Just two days ago, the Founder of the Constructive party and also Founder of the region, United Dark Republic, switched over to the Activist party. That was considered a major blow to the Constructivists, but it does not even compare to this merger. Assuming our methodology is correct, the party affiliation poll shows that the Activist party has jumped out to a massive lead after this party shakeup. ACT - 41% CON - 25% LBD - 16% RNP - 11% CWP - 5% PPP - 2%

NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC : Prime Minister Ostermeer's proposed changes to the current constitution gets some support, but not enough as the bill to vote on a new constitution was pulled from the General Assembly floor. When voting was underway after the Founder prematurely triggered a constitutional referendum, the results showed the region nearly in unison as 80% of residents voted to uphold the current constitution.
Despite the proposed changes coming up miserably short, the Prime Minister and a handful of residents have understandably called to alter a few parts of the region's constitution. Primarily the most popular amendment seems to be changing the senate from the current five seats to 10, virtually doubling the senate's composition. NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - The recently elected regional senate voted on Wednesday to gut any sort of involvement with the pro-defender and anti-raiding organization known as "FORGE". The vote was reportedly very close, but regardless their vote seems to be in direct contrast to the region as a whole.
After the surprising vote result, Diplomacy Minister Norrizi called upon the Senators to rethink their stance on the issue. He backed up his proposal by noting that a "clear majority of the region" supports joining FORGE, and to prove it numerous other nations came out on the RMB to criticize the Senators who voted against the region's opinion on the entrance into FORGE. Freshman Senator North Ocilia (A) decided to reverse his decision after realizing that his vote did not take into account the region's best interests. Even the Constructivist Senator of Correctional Facility decided to change his vote, before being attacked and slandered by his own parties members, most notably the former PM Heisenbee. Probably the most eyebrow-raising moment was when Heisenbee seems to have indicated that elected official should not even listen to their own constituents, take a look... As for the senate, you guys made your choice. Don't cave into the pressure of a few people who insult you. They elected you, and you don't have to cater to their every whim. This is just childish. If this is how our politics are going to be from now on I might just go inactive. Let's set the record straight Mr. Prime Minister, just because your administration didn't listen to the people doesn't mean that it's an appropriate way to govern. His absurd remarks were called out by the Activist chairman Hevern... To be fair, it's sort of childish to threaten going inactive/leaving the region because we the citizens here want to join FORGE. You're a former Prime Minister, you have higher class than that. |
