NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC -- The extremely controverisal James "Maddog" Mattis, Cartographer in the role play ministry, might have been dealt his last breath as a government official as he has been caught in arguably one of the biggest scandals in the region's history.
The outspoken, yet divisive Cartographer has been accused by Activist party members as a fringe racist as revelations were revealed back in January that then-Defense Minister used the N-word in a profane rant nearly three years ago. Fast forward to before today, the cartographer was enjoying immense popularity as he was confirmed as the region's mapmaker in an unusually bipartisan 23 to 2 vote (92%) in favor of Mattis' confirmation. His popularity has skyrocketed ever since Mattis took the daunting task of pushing for the long-overdue Role Play Reform, yet after this latest stunt his credibility and ability to move forward with the role play agenda is now cast in extraordinary doubt. To many, he has failed to live up to his promise of implementing his widely popular role play reform. Written by RBC's Engium

NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC -- Arguably the second biggest thing to happen today is the merger between the two centrist parties which now modestly increases the Liberal Democrats registration numbers. This now puts them in a position where they could challenge the Constructive party as the region's largest opposition party.
The region has never seen a non-mainstream party outperform the Activists nor the Constructivists in membership, but this is now the second time where the Lib-Dems are within striking distance of a mainstream party. The first time they polled within the margin of error was when an RNN poll found that the Activists had 26% support, compared to the Lib-Dems 23%. Now it seems the tables have turned as the Constructivists are polling around 25% to the Lib-Dems 20-23%. As a token of party unity, the Lib-Dem leader Rheta offered former Individualist party leader Bergonnia the Deputy leader spot. Also, the party platform altered two policies to appease the Individualists who merged. Wrote by RBC's Dertas. NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC -- In a major shakeup that could affect regional politics for months to come, the infamous founder and leader of the regional Constructive party has stepped down. He has served as the party's leader for over two years now and has been attributed to the complete dominance the center-right Constructivists have had in government for the previous several elections. The United Dark Republic (UDR) has lead the party for seven consecutive election cycles, of which they won the Premiership four times, five if you include their coalition with Baconbacon and the centrist Lib-Dems, and have held outright majorities in the legislature for four of the seven.
The legendary Constructive leader announced towards the end of his resignation speech that Trade Federations, a longtime party member, will succeed their party's founder (and the region's). Calponia will stay on as the party's co-chairman as they seek a reboot in regional politics as the party only holds one seat in the Ministry and is desperate to hold onto to the General Assembly; where Saariset is considered a controversial speaker and a vulnerable incumbent. Trade Federations new task as the leader of the region's oldest party will be to take a majority in the newly-created upper chamber called the Senate. UDR's full resignation speech can be found below. "After long consideration and even doubting myself, I have came to a decision. But before I begin I would like to relive a few accomplishments and discuss some history. The Constructive party has been in existence since for over two years now. I even remember the day I telegrammed The Brotherhood of Kyro about possibly creating a party for the region; which at the time there was not even a single party in existence. However that would soon change as the Constructivists would quickly increase their membership as over 60% of the region voted with our party. After we rose to the top and held every single office in government, the Activist party was created by two people-- Hevern and Broncos Fast Nation. Nevertheless, they would begin to offer an alternative to the party. But if you truly think about it, the Constructivists were the ones who created the party system, and I'm extremely proud to say that the system has remained in existence for all these years. There is no doubt in my mind that it will continue long after as well. I have been humbled to lead the Constructive party that I founded with the help of many others, and I would like to thank everyone for allowing my vision, and more importantly our vision, to become a reality. That being said, everything great must come to an end. So it is with a heavy heart, but no regrets whatsoever, that I hereby tender my resignation as the Chairman of the regional Constructive party. I will remain on board if the party needs any advice or assistance, but after deliberating with a few senior members of the party; I am honored to announce my longtime friend Trade Federations as my successor, and the Honorable Calponia as the Co-Chair. It is with great dreams and opportunities that have made the New Western Atlantic what it is today, and even greater realities. I trust that the new and upcoming leadership of the party will help keep that the very essence of the party, and more importantly-- the region. But for now, I am signing off for the last time. May God continue to shed his grace on the New Western Atlantic." Wrote by RBC's Engium. |
