NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - Immediately following the Constructive party's surprising victory in the senate elections, party chairman Trade Federations announced that he had discussed a potential coalition with the Liberal Democrats in the senate. Liberal Democratic leader, Rheta, confirmed that his party would be willing to form a coalition with the Constructivists. Even more surprising is that the far right RNP is rumored to be comfortable propping up the presumed Constructive/Liberal-Democratic senate coalition, although the Nationalists' lone senator would not be a part of a formal coalition and instead would simply lend their vote on an issue-by-issue basis.
The Liberal Democrats have been in a coalition with the Activists for six months now, and even more shocking is that they are willing to abandon it for the Constructivists who have no leverage in the executive branch. This chaotic coalition between the Constructivists and Liberal Democrats is wonderful for their individual parties, but this will undoubtedly lead to an eventual clash between the Activist Prime Minister and the Constructive-led legislature. This coalition will now lead to a period of uncertainty as the government will be effectively divided for the first time since early on in the Ostermeer administration, and this is the first time that the center right Constructivists have gained control of the senate. The Constructivists have been eyeing control of government ever since the Activists have led in government for nearly a year now, and it looks like they've finally done it. While the Constructivists only have one leg in the door and the other our, they will certainly be looking to change that come the December election where they will attempt to take back the Premiership from Riost and the Activists.

NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - Black Sheep (ACT) and his Activist caucus enjoyed a majority in the senate for the previous three months, and it looks like they'll enjoy another three months in government as the Activists are holding onto a three to four point lead with over 90 percent of all votes having been counted. What's most surprising about the results that have currently came in is how the Regional Nationalists are maintaining a 12 to 13 percent share of the vote, a sizable increase from their dismal four percent result during the senate election back in June.
The third largest party, the Liberal Democrats, were in for a bad election result up until a few Activists decided to lend their votes to them in order to surpass the far right RNP. This sort of tactical voting has helped thrust the Liberal Democrats back into third place, meanwhile the far left SEP closed their gap and are now closing in on the RNP. RBC is currently projecting nine of the 10 senate seats: ACT - 3.5 seat(s) CON - 3 seat(s) LIB - 2 seat(s) RNP - 1 seat(s) SEP - .5 seat(s) PPL - N/A Note: one seat is currently too close to call, but it's currently expected to go to either the Activists or the Socialists. NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - A poll conducted by RBC finds that incumbent senators, Grey Rose (ACT) and Trade Federations (CON), are leading in their respective party primaries. This shows that the parties seem to approve of their current senators, but they will still be able to select 2-3 other senators along with their incumbents.
On the Activist side, former Prime Minister Ostermeer is running in second place with 15%, which is surprising considering that he snubbed his own party's candidate back in June-- Riost. Following him are up-and-coming Activists Becklana and O-Broki with 11% each, Swedes and Geats has seven percent, and a whooping 33% are still undecided. Constructivists seem to be lining up behind Trade Federations in particular by a comfortable margin, but the battle for second place is a free-for-all between several others. Longtime resident Lucenzia clocked in at 15%, but so too does Calponia. Following closely behind those two are Dependants (10%) and former Deputy Prime Minister Cheesecakeastan (10%), leaving 21% of all registered Constructivists as undecided on their preferred candidate. The official poll results can be found below. Party-by-Party Senate Poll ACTIVIST: 19% Grey Rose, 15% Ostermeer, 11% Becklana, 11% O-Broki, 7% Swedes and Geats, 4% Vasilieos, 0% Greater Konstantinople, 33% undecided CONSTRUCTIVE: 26% Trade Federations, 15% Lucenzia, 15% Calponia, 10% Dependants, 10% Cheesecakeastan, 3% Flonar, 21% undecided NEW WESTERN ATLANTIC - The Speaker of the House of Delegates Trump and Pence (CON) lambasted the Diplomacy Minister over apparently claiming to take credit for something that he did not do, and a tense exchange in the regional message board proceeded.
The embassies which I am scheduling to close are either a) inactive or b) too small. I am also making it a priority to create embassies with large regions like Capitalist Paradise and Westphalia, both of which have accepted our embassy request under my tenure as diplomacy minister. There will be more to come I can promise you, so stay tuned. - Ehoi Oh really? Last time I checked it wasn't you who even started diplomatic with Westphalia, or even the one who requested embassies, don't try to steal credit again. - Trump and Pence I wasn't taking credit, so put your ego aside for literally a second and picture this: do you think Westphalia would have accepted the embassy request if our diplomacy minister had been someone who wasn't very diplomatic, say Norrizi or Grand Rebels? I think not. Fortunately I am a pretty reasonable person, so there's no problem on that front. - Ehoi |
